"The drugs have gotten much worse... yeah I know that for sure ever since I was younger. I've grown up here my whole life and all the drugs have been coming for philly. It’s really not good" Josue (Sway), Aubree, and Colleen
"The opioid epidemic is getting out of hand. They keep getting younger and younger"
"I lived my whole life here in Carlisle, Pennsylvania and this used to be a really nice town but ever since 2 years ago it’s being destroyed by pollution. The children cannot breathe and if you wet wipe this antique car is will be black and that is what we are breathing in. I lost my 401k" - Eric Robinson
"Heroine is bad. It used to be different you know in the 80’s when the epidemic hit it was the blacks now it is not like that now it is more of the white communities that are on the opioids so when they can't get the opioids they go to heroin. That is what's killing the community now. Carlisle was one of the best places to grow up in and now its not at all like that" - Rondel Wright
"I have lived here in Carlisle and it has changed extremely, its changed in terms of the opiods and the young kids are dying from heroin. Its not people of color that’s overdosing, it is the Caucasians. It is getting out of hand because Carlisle wasn’t taking care of it. When it was happening on the other end of people of color they didn’t feel any kind of way but when white kids with money started losing their lives then you want to change the law" - KR
"You take away pills from people who really need it and criminalize the people you should have taken care of before. But when its effecting your children and your family and your people the lawmakers are going to budge. And its effecting the elderly people the insurance companies are denying them. People of color need the medications but you're not giving it to them. The ones you are putting in the grave are your children and not ours. They are doing the opioids and heroin, don’t get me wrong people of color use heroin too but in Carlisle it is mostly white people dying from it. You’re hurting the people who really need and when they can’t get it they are going to self-medicate and then they have to take a urine test and you really cut them off welfare and jobs" -Deedra
"I have had 6 surgeries...... It’s not fair, there are some people who cry in pain every night and I know because I am one of them" - D.B
"Ive been here for 4 years and I realized how bad the drugs were in the few months that I came here to take care of my child" - Don, Bleek, Steven
I done grew up on this street, there used to be a bar here they tore it down and we bought Pitt street pride. They are trying to get all the black people out of here and get in all the white people. They bought homes that were here and refurbished them families that have been living here for years like North Street Pride and Pitt Street Pride. The thing is look at how many black people have bought these houses. All these blocks used to be all black people, the families have been pushed out from north street all the way to west street it was all black families now I don’t know anyone on the block, and I used to know everyone on the block" - R.W and C.E
"I have lived here for 10 years now and it’s really hard to get out of here because I see people get stuck in a place like this. I see parts of Carlisle getting much better it used to be bad but the houses are changing up" - Terrell Brown
"I am a true American, raised on B street. All my friends have died from drinking and driving and drugs. I chose to quit" - Eric Robinson
"They were selling crack cocaine and heroin. Drugs has ruined my community and people wandering town on drugs has got to stop. Addiction is really bad and now the hard drugs are causing crime it is getting much much worse. This future isn’t looking so good"
"Is it true what they say that Dickinson students aren’t supposed to associate themselves with us and people in town? I guess they don’t want anything to do with us"
"I saw a map years ago at the borough their plan was to make this an all white area and it is coming true over the years. Now they put all this money into our parks but that’s because they know they are kicking us out. We can’t do what white people do"
"My name is Sean and I have lived in Carlisle for 3 years in terms of the landscaping I think it is great and has changed over the years. I can't think of a lot of things that bring people together anymore, there are drugs everywhere and I think it's getting better at least not everyone is getting killed out here every day like philly" - Sean
